Added to the EV-IT system for 2015 are Voice Destination Entry (VDE) and Hands-Free Text Messaging Assistant (part of NissanConnectSM), drivers can manage incoming text messages via voice control without taking their hands from the wheel or eyes off the road. Drivers are alerted to an incoming text and, after initiating the system, can hear the text read out loud and respond via voice recognition, or via the steering wheel switches using pre-set answers such as "driving, can't text," "on my way," "running late," "okay" or a custom message.

The 2015 Nissan LEAF interior also includes standard heated front bucket seats and a 60/40 split folding heated rear seat and rear HVAC duct. LEAF SV seat fabric is made with partially recycled materials. All 2015 Nissan LEAF models include standard Bluetooth® Hands-free Phone System and RearView Monitor. The Premium Package also includes the seven-speaker Energy Efficient Series Bose® premium audio system. Nissan LEAF safety systems include six air bags, four-wheel Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) and Traction Control System (TCS).

Equipped with a 6.6. kW charger, the SV comes packed with a 7-inch touchscreen, Nissan Carwings to navigate and remotely monitor charging and climate control, partially recycled upholstery, six-speaker sound system, Pandora integration and much more.

The 2015 Nissan Leaf was built with a 24 kWh traction battery. Not all that capacity is used to propel the car. Some 22 kWh are usable, giving the car an official EPA range of 84 miles (140 km) when the car is new.

The newest model year of the Nissan leaf has impressive specs and functionality with a 147 horsepower electric motor, 40-kWh battery pack, an EPA-estimated range of 149 miles for the base model Nissan Leaf S. This EPA range goes up to 215 miles for the SV plus. The Nissan leaf has a combined highway MPGe of 111 MPGe. The main difference between these two models is a larger 62 kWh lithium-ion battery for the SV plus model and a 214- horsepower electric motor. The Leaf has a nominal battery capacity of 40.0 kWh and a usable capacity of 39.0 kWh. It also comes standard with a regenerative braking feature known as e-pedal which decelerates the vehicle as the driver comes off of the accelerator. It also has adaptive cruise control with driver assistance in the Leaf SV Plus model with optional ProPilot Assist for semi-autonomous driving. Other interesting standard features in terms of connectivity include Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and climate control which come standard. In terms of other Nissan USA offerings, there is the 2023 Ariya which is an all-electric SUV that is potentially good for road trips.

At $29,815, the starting price for the 2016 e-Golf SE - which includes destination charges - will be $55 lower than that of the 2015 Nissan Leaf. Nissan has yet to announce any details for its 2016 Leaf.
