Diablo 3 digs deep into the story of Tyrael, who is transformed into The Fallen Star D2R Items by tearing off his wings and crashing into Sanctuary with the descendants of Nephalem are residing. The moment the Archangel of Death, Maltheal, went after the stone and began to attack his allies, it was Tyrael who was the one to send his friend into Pandemonium to end death itself.

Tyrael opts to stay in his mortal form , but reconnects with his angelic friends and becomes both the aspect of Justice and of Wisdom. Diablo 3 ends with him considering whether his new mortal companion, who may be corruptedin the future, could someday become the new challenge to Heaven, Hell, and Sanctuary and even the very existence of life itself. It's clear that the Aspect of Justice and Wisdom is likely to not sit idle while Inarius marches an army upon Hell in search of his former love, Lilith.

The most recent Diablo 4 cinematic trailer from Blizzard includes Inarius in a battle against Lilith and armies on both of their backs. Although the film doesn't show Tyrael's direct involvementin the story, his invention of Horadrim and involvement with the Paladins from Sanctuary indicates that he's involved. Light and dark battles in the battle, and now-mortal Tyrael resides somewhere in the middle.

It is likely his presence will be perceived through these intermediaries unless events cause him to act. Tyrael still suffers the repercussions of the destruction of his Diablo 2 Resurrected buy items at the conclusion of Diablo 2. The mystical artifact shielded Sanctuary from Heaven and Hell, and he now stands as protector over the land as its successor. Tyrael doesn't appear to be leading any further charges into Hell or venture much further than the Pandemonium Fortress, where he could give advice similar to Deckard Cain for those who are willing to listen.
